2007 Findleton El Dorado Grand Reserve Malbec

Malbec is one of the six traditional Bordeaux red grape varietals and is often a component of red Bordeaux wines. More recently, Malbec has gained popularity as a single varietal wine in Argentina. Pamela Findleton’s painting It’s Chili” was selected for the label of the 2007 Findleton Estate and Vineyard Malbec. The grapes were grown at Dorado Canyon Vineyard in Fair Play.  The grapes were hand picked, gently destemmed and crushed, and fermented with 25% whole berries. The wine was barrel aged for 14 months in a combination of new and neutral French and American oak.  The Malbec was blended with 10% Cabernet Sauvignon to enhance the structure and add depth of flavor. The 2007 Malbec exhibits aromas of plum, wild cherries, dried red chili, fresh hay, spiced flowers, and exotic Asian spices. The pallet is light and spicy with red fruit flavors, green herbs, toasted oak, and firm acidity.
